BLESS works in 84 villages in Parangipettai, Keerapalayam and Cuddalore Blocks in Cuddalore District with a population of 155424, Male – 78803, and Female – 76621.
These people are socially, economically and educationally very much backward. It includes 28.3% of scheduled caste. 80% of this population is unskilled agricultural labourers, 70% of men and 80% of women are illiterate and 35% of children population of school going age is school dropouts. It is a principally an agricultural area. It is usually affected by either lack or heavy rains.
